Financial Regulator as watchdog?

An increasing but small number of Irish financial websites seem hell bent on flaunting codes and misleading consumers by displaying discounted premiums as if they are the ongoing annual premiums.

The Advertising Standards Authority certainly doesn't have any power yet and I now don't believe the Financial Regulator acts as watchdog to protect the consumer.

 
I had a look at the three sites you mentioned

They state:

Save up to 75% on mortage protection

75% discount on the first year's premium

65% off your first year's premium

Fantastic offer - Up to 75% off your 1st years premium

I am not sure why you would interpret these as meaning that the discount is ongoing.
