Hello,

I am looking for a name and contact details of a Financial Adviser? Would love to have been brave enough to go on the RTE program called "Show me the Money" but pride prevailed. So have decided to stop burying my head in the sand and work with someone to get my debt under control and allow me to breath again.

They will will haggle for you if requested and can freeze CC debt ...normally the most expensive.... so that the interest stops going up or stops going up as fast as it is now.

Half the battle is the admission but have you burnt the credit cards yet ??

Thanks for the advice. Glad to say that credit card cut up (have to admit just did it today after logging on to the website!!) Still its a start.
 
Chop them all up, particularly the CC and the Store Cards...

Its a very orderly process once it starts .

Mabs contact the most expensive and the biggest lenders , by having Mabs do it for you you sorta admit that there is a problem and the lenders are amenable to a plan to pay back which does not involve 22% interest rates , they also stop loading on penalties and writing letters and charging you for it. They do deals with Mabs that they will never do with you yourself.

BE COMPLETELY HONEST WITH MABS ! Tell them the true and FULL extent of your debts including ESB and Gas and Phone arrears which are not loans....except that they ARE loans but at 0% interest for the moment .

You pay off the most expensive first and so on , that is normally the credit cards and stay away from the door to door gombeen men whatever you do . They are normally local criminals even if they do have a licence to lend money .

I had no CC for years and do again because I trust myself now (after a gap of 8 years inlcuding the 1 year of pain bit) ..I pay the blasted thing off every month or else I do not use it, scary thing.

Always remember it could happen to a bishop :)
