Filling out my 1st tax return

Hi, I moved house during the year and obviously forgot to tell the revenue. They sent a tax return form to my old address to complete which I only collected from my old house last week. I used to do contracting (and got a girl to do my tax returns) so thats probably why I was selected.
I am now a PAYE worker, no additional rental income or anything like that. I have all my records for a few share dividends, P60, medical expenses etc, so is the form as simple as it seems? I was just going to fill in all the details online....do the revenue then work out if I owe them or if they owe me?? Is an accountant needed? thanks

If you were only PAYE in 2007, then the form should be straightforward to complete.

If you complete it online, it should show you a calculation.

The first thing you need to think about is your Principle Private Residence - You need to inform Revenue that you have a new PPR.

Personally I would go down the lines of de-registering for income tax purposes. It'll prove easier in the long run as you won't have any prelim tax or anything like that.

Once you've de-registered for income tax you can then send in a form 12, details your dividends, medical expenses etc....
