Filing a claim for non delivery from Amazon Market Place

I ordered something from Amazon via one of their market place sellers. The item did not arrive by the latest due date (21st July) I contacted the seller who asked me wait until today and if it still hadn't arrived they would resend the item. I told the seller I would wait, however as the item was needed today at the latest a resend was not acceptable.

Nothing has arrived today so I went to file a claim under the Amazon Guarantee but on the drop down menu the "item not arrived" is greyed out, the only claim reason available is "item defective/damaged" The guidance notes state if an incorrect reason is used the claim may be rejected.

Has anyone any experience of filing a claim, does it take a few more days for the other options for claiming to become available or should I just proceed with the one there and put a note in the comments section?

I have never had any problem getting things sorted out with Amazon but I would suggest contacting the seller again, he knows how the system works and as he'll want his feedback to be positive, he'll be keen to make sure you're satisfied with how the problem gets resolved. Good luck to you.

I have always had good experiences with Amazon. They resent a 2nd book to me once when the first one didn't arrive. Subsequently the orginal did eventually arrive and Amazon suggested I donate it to charity.

Delivery of books is really outside of amazons control. It could be sitting in a sorting office or get delayed anywhere along the path.

Hello, thanks, only just seen the replies.

I contacted the seller twice, first time I got ignored, then she offered to resend the item. I didn't want it resent as it was a small guitar accessory for my son and he was able to borrow one as there was no chance of it arriving on time for him to use for his performance.

I discovered you have to wait for the 4th day after the final delivery date to file a claim, which I did and the refund was done within an hour.

The part arrived today. It was posted in a non padded envelope with no wrapping around the part, only posted the day before the final delivery date ( despite me getting an email from the seller saying it had been posted over a week earlier) and the postage on it was only £1.49 ( I was charged £3.99 P&P)

I am still in 2 minds whether to inform them it arrived, I am naturally honest but the fact they were clearly overcharging on P&P is making me think twice

Never ever had a problem buying direct from Amazon but this was a marketplace seller.
