Fifty Euro Call Out on Door Guaranteed for 10 Years

We had a front door supplied and fitted on a new house about 2 years ago. With the recent wind and rain we have noticed water getting in through joints in the PVC frame (I know - i should have gone for wood!!) - also it is letting in air . The door is under a 10 year guarantee - but the company say that there is a 50 euro call out charge to see what the problem is (non refundable). If I had discovered the problem within 1 year there would be no call out charge. I am thinking of refusing to pay this fee (after they have fixed the problem) - does anyone think such a fee is fair?

Most of the window suppliers provide a contract with the usual small print. If you still have a copy of this it might be worth your while to have a careful read. Have to say, the charge seems unfair.

When I bought my house the lock on the front door seized after approx 20 months. The door supplier said 12 months was the guarantee. I was charged 65 Euro for call out, totally annoyed at what I felt was a rip off but really had no where else to go. Another locksmith would only have charged the same if not more.

Also thought of not paying but eventually paid after a few months.

it's hardly a good advert for their after sales service regardless of any small print - the least they could do is come out and have a look.

I'm sure if you were to let people know which crowd they were here on this thread they would lose a lot more than 50 quid in future business.
