My family were booked to cross on Stenaline from Holyhead to Dun Laoghaire at around 4pm.
We were told that it was cancelled due to technical fault and that we can
cross 10 hours later on the 2:30am in the morning crossing.
We were given 10 euro per adult and 5 euro per child vouchers for drink/food (that we didn't use as the facilities before the ferry were rubbish and we just dozed/slept when it came to ferry journey - and they didn't open the shop - very crafty!)
We were also given a 50% voucher for our next ferry trip.
What are our rights for this situation ?
What (if any) compensation shoudl we be entitled in this circumstance ?
My wife had to take 0.5 day annual leave and I also had to take a full day annual leave as we were travelling back and not fit for work.
The stress was incredible with two under 5 year olds and 10 hours in Holyhead (absolutely nothing to do) on a Sunday !
Would we be able to claim anything on our VHI travel insurance ?
Thanks
