Fee for testing for contacts?

Last month, I went to Specsavers and had the eye test and subsequently got new specs. to the tune of €404 which with 30% savings etc., eventually ended up at €290. I was encouraged to also try the contact lens, but the test would cost €25. As I'd already had the eye test, I asked what could be different? Answer: The fitting and being shown how to insert and take them out!!! As I've already worn contacts for a few years, I already knew all about this. The answer to that was, drops to make sure the lens fitted!!!
What next??? Did anyone else encounter this charge?

How do you expect them to know if the lenses fit you?

Peoples pupils are all different shapes. Fitting for glasses wouldnt take this in as they cover the whole eye area.

Its a different test altogether.

I think think the person who advised you that the extra charge was for showing you how to use them and drops was either misinformed or mislead you. Testing for contacts lense goes beyond just glasses testing. As stated they need to check the size and shape of your eye as well as running tests on the health of your eye.
