Faulty SIM card

Hi all. My SIM card has just developed a fault & died on me, I took it to a Vodafone repair shop who tested it, said they couldn't get any of the stored phone numbers from it & gave me a new SIM with my existing number.

Given that I wasn't sensible enough to backup many of the numbers on it, I was wondering does anyone know of anyone offering a service that can resurrect it & get some data off it? Or is it a case that once it's gone, it's gone?!

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Clubman but I've googled every possibilty I can think of & nothing really relevant came up. Most links are to services to recover messages or numbers that have been accidently deleted from SIMs which are still working, as distinct from recovery of data from faulty SIM cards.
Any other suggestions please?

You could try getting something like a USB connected SIM card reader (which should appear in Windows as an external drive) and see if you (a) read anything from the card and (b) if so see if you can read the raw data to recover contacts etc. from it. Did the Vodafone store tell you precisely what they tried to do with it and what software/hardware they employed? In the absence of more information about the card or what happened there are innumerable possibilities as to what's wrong with it. As ever attempting to diagnose problems or retrieve data is a process of experimentation and elimination.

Thanks for the assistance. The Vodafone store tried it in some form of card reader connected to a PC alright but the shop assistant didn't appear to have any technical expertise whatsoever so I was wondering if there was any company other than a phone shop outlet that I could take it to (or send it to) who offer a specialist service of recovering data...similar to companies who can recover data from faulty PC hard drives.

Don't suppose you had the numbers coppied to the phone memory?

Afraid not cjh....wouldn't be asking if I had! I have quite a few numbers on the phone memory & they are ok, it's just those on the SIM that I'd like to get back if I could. Will be backing the SIM up in future!
