Faulty Patio Slabs

I purchased Patio slabs last July and had them laid - I noticed that they were not all of the same shade and went back to the supplier and complained told with a bit of weathering they would be fine - this did not happen - I then made a further complaint and the manufacturer then came to look at the slabs and agreed that they were a bad batch and organised to have them replaced and re laid, this batch is almost as bad, the manufacturer has called again and says that they are not perfect but refuses to replace them says they will issue us with a "credit" (not sure if it will cover the full cost of slabs) but that we would have to pay for the labour to take up the faulty ones and lay the new ones. I have made numerous calls to both the supplier and the manufacturer but have nothing finally agreed on this issue yet. What should I do ?

I take it you're talking about dyed precast concrete slabs - don't have any experience with them, but I wonder if you've been missold - how well would any outdoor product retain its colour or shade in Irish weather? Having said that, you might think that the slabs would fade evenly were they the same shade to begin with, but again, depending on the lay of the patio, rain pouring off it and frost would ensure that some would fade faster than others. I would have thought that any product sold for outdoor use would come with this proviso.

We were assured that the slabs would fade evenly but because they were not of the same shade in the first instance they will never be the same, the supplier accepts this and has agreed to issue us with a credit but we are out of pocket with labour costs and possibly money if a full credit is not issued.
