Hi. I was wondering if anyone can share any insights. My father was good enough 20 years ago to help me get a house by going as co mortgagee. Originally he was only to be a guarantor and I had the deposit etc but the initial loan offer fell through and we went with PTSB. I have noticed that his name is on the land registry folio with mine.. does that mean his name is also on the title deeds to the house as that was not the intention. If he is, may I ask how do I go about removing him from it as he is getting older and we are unfortunately no longer in touch. I have paid all the payments to date, never missed any and have documention for such. The mortgage has another 10 years to run
The initial offer was with Bank of Ireland and they were going to get him to sign a document stating that he had no interest in the house.. PTSB did not do this.
Will I have to go legal to get this done and might anyone know re fees etc. Someone on a different thread years ago mentioned things like my house becoming part of his estate , stamp duty fees etc. Any information at all would be helpful
Thank you
