Family group holiday

We are thinking of a large family holiday next May abroad.
We are planning to have ourselves (2 adults + 2 children) brother (2 adults +1 child) another brother (2 adults + 2 children) and grandparents (2 adults).

We were thinking of hiring a villa or house in Portugal with a family and baby pool. All the kids are under 5. Can anybody make any recommendations based on their experiences. A coastal resort is not absolutely critical but the resort area must have some night life.

Thanks,

Paul

Hi Paul,

Sounds like a great hol. Portugal is lovely espcially Albufeira/Montechoro area. Stay away from Praia da Rocha.

You may find some useful links in this previous AAM thread. www.vrbo.com has definitely been recommended a few times here.

This other thread Villas in Portugal might be worth a read also.

Hopefully others here might be able to give a personal recommendation/further advice.

Hi,

a couple of years ago my family went on a similar holiday, which was a great success.

We stayed in a villa in a private estate called 'Quinta da Lago' near Faro. It was amazing - beautiful, luxurious villa, all large bedrooms ensuite, huge pool and gardens, option of cook/maid/gardner, about 2km from beach, many restaurants nearby, villages nearby.
Price approx 3000stg for a week including hire of 2 cars (not too bad when devided out among the adults)
I cant remember who we booked with, but will check and post back. Or you could google 'Quinta da Lago'.

Cheers.

One note of caution - if you hire a private villa with pool, you won't have any lifeguard service that you might expect at a resort. This might be an issue, particularly with kids.
