I need to get someone to do my garden,which is 1/2 acre.What would one expect to pay for just grass to be cut?The lawn is well preserved currently.

time doing it yourself, decide on a fair hourly rate, apply some multiplier if they're using their own equipment/petrol etc.

eg. 2.5 hrs x 10 = 25 x 1.5 for own equipment use = 37.50...
it they've more expensive equipment eg a ride on, they benefit from a faster completion, easier job etc for the extra capital put in, I don't have a problem with that.

I guess add vat on that assuming they can provide a vat no/pps no.
(get a receipt if you want it as an expense for a rental..)

lawn prices should only be priced only per metre squared rate to seed should be 5 euro per metre squared and turf 10 euro - this ais only a guide rule and WILL vary and may or may not include VAT. check out [broken link removed] and send a few mails there. let me know how you get on.
