Fair price for car repair

I had my 1 litre car serviced and had front brake pads, front suspension spring and both rear suspension struts replaced all on one day at a local ( non dealer ) garage.
I was presented with a bill for almost € 1000 was this a fair price ?

Did they replace the brake discs too? Equally depends on the car make/model and availability of parts. Those parts are not particularly expensive but then you need to add labour hours on top of it. You can probably check out part costs on micksgarage.ie just for an idea but the garage will get trade prices.

I've paid circa €350 for a set of pads and discs from a dealership in the past year or so.

Did you get a quote from them in advance?

At least it's all sorted.

Thanks for your reply - unfortunately no I didn't get a quote in advance but the other items in addition to service only mentioned after service was completed The brakes were pads only

To me it sounds like that garage were profiteering and taking advantage of your supposed lack of knowledge.
I would be looking for the replaced suspension parts to be returned to verify that they have actually been replaced.
