Fair Deal and funeral expenses.

My mother in law was in a nursing home which was funded by the Fairdeal. We now have to repay the HSE as she died three years ago. Can anybody advise if we can offset funeral expenses against the final bill?
 
You can't deduct funeral expenses from the Fair Deal refund due to HSE (if thats the question you were asking)
 
I assume that she availed of the loan.
In this case the amount to be repaid is 7.5% of the value of the house, for a maximum of 3 years ( 22.5%) ( unless the total HSE paid was less than this).

There is no reduction in this amount because you paid for a funeral.
