Doesn't the situation around the Cork City & Finn Harps financial woes leave a question mark over the League of Ireland's ability to manage its business? The FAI was never the most transparent organization but the few glimpses that we get from the outside makes it seem like a cross between Faulty Towers & The Sopranos, the reports of how much some players are being paid V’s the clubs revenue makes it questionable if there is any level of competence at management level – do the clubs/ FAI actually employ accountants?.

do the clubs/ FAI actually employ accountants?.
Well, those clubs incorporated as limited companies (most of them as far as I know) like any other limited company have to submit annual returns and audited accounts to the CRO as normal so - yes, they do engage accountants and auditors to deal with their accounts. Similarly directors of such companies are subject to the same rules regarding reckless trading as any other directors of limited companies.

Are they any worse than the current debacle that we are seeing with the banks and financial sectors?

Who was watching them as they nearly brought the world to its knees with their stupidity and greed?
