Hi all

I'm desperate to find an extra wide pet gate (to fit a gap of 97" or just over 8') between living room and kitchen - our two boxer dogs think the living room couches are for their personal enjoyment any time we leave the room and I'm sick and tired of the constant vacuuming and tidying up.

I've found a few online in US but shipping to Ireland is the problem - does anyone know of any ROI stockists??? (googled to no avail).

Any help would be appreciated.

Most child-proof gates are quite small and designed to fit stairs or door-widths. This one is designed for a large opening. It's an e-mail business but as you'll see they desptch worldwide. Doubt you'd get something as specialised as this in your local Argos or DIY shop. By the way didn't you know dogs and comfortable sofas and armchairs were made for each other :D [broken link removed]

That you for posting that site. As part of a gay couple, i would have felt very awkward going into mothercare to buy a child stair gate for the puppies!

There are plenty on ebay. I got one in from Germany, I think the P&P was €16. It was wooden (4 * 1 meter sections), so no use for dogs (eaten). But there are also metal ones available.

Theres a baby fence thing called Babydan that can be adjusted to fit really wide gaps also we got a gate to fit a wide doorway for our dog once from Argos but thats prob not wide enough for you, the Babydan is your man I think - look online, I know one UK catalogue co was shipping here but can't remember the name.

Hi All

Thanks so much for the url and ebay tip. appreciate it.

I work from home and just walked in to find they (the boxers) had pushed the Hadrian's wall of chairs (6) out of the way and were casually sunning themselves on each end of the sofa. This is despite the fact they have a perfectly comfortable, padded bed next to the radiator . . .

When I die, I want to come back as my dog :)

i'll let you all know how i get on and whether it works.

Aren't animals great! They have it all worked out! :D:D

What about a couple of throws for the couch? You could take them off and wash them and the dogs would not actually be on the couch just the throw. Make sure they are machine washable though or you will spend a fortune on dry cleaning. (I have three dogs and two children and found the dogs do much less damage than the kids).
