External HDD not opening on double click

This hopefully will be an easy fix for someone on here who knows their computers.

I have a 2.5" external HDD.

When I plug it in and its recognised, it won't open the drive in a new window when I double click on it - gives an error message about some .exe file missing. I have to right-click and select OPEN from the menu.

Can I fix this easily?
 
It is prob trying to open some utility/rubbish which came in the drive, but you deleted. There should be a small file called autorun.inf on the root of the drive, it may be marked hidden. Delete it.
