Extension : head full of questions!

hi all,
Doing a 22-25 meter extension at back of house in Dublin 16.
1 :
Have €14000 shares in CU,will I be OK to ask for €40000?
2 :
Quote for €32000 is this good?
(Quite vague I know but just general extention)
Totally new all this to me.
I'd appreciate any advice on above please.

What's the interest rate at the CU? Is your bank cheaper? Can you afford the repayments. Why are you looking for 40K when it's costing 32K, but I've yet to see a build or renovation that didn't cost more than one thought.. 32K is good if the builder is good, did you check him out?

Just dawned on me in relation to loan,I've €14k saved in credit union,I'm thinking now that I should apply for loan through AIB,who I bank with,instead of CU,as their interest rate is much less.

My question is should I transfer my €14k into my AIB a/c before I apply for the loan or do AIB take savings into consideration?
I'm afraid that if I lodge savings into my AIB a/c it will look dodgy when applying soon after as they may think "where did he get this".
