Can anyone clarify following:

Parents are Oap's - on SW age pension - are they exempt from Lpt?

I am being made redundant at xmas and will be on sw - is there any exemption from lpt? obv this is another bill i will be under pressure to pay...

Having no money to pay the tax is not an acceptable excuse. You will pay regardless of any hardship that may cause, or you can ask for a deferral. A deferral attracts an interest rate of 4%

I've worked out that mother's house should now be exempt from the LPT as she has moved to a nursing home. However, when I log in I can't find where on the site to apply for this exemption or change status of a property. It only appears to give me the option of telling them how I want to pay.

from Revenue's site
1. If I qualify for an exemption from paying the tax, do I still need to complete a Return?

Yes. To claim an exemption you must complete your Return and indicate the exemption condition you satisfy. Further information on exemptions from LPT are available on the website.

anyone point in the right direction of where on the site you can indicate the exemption.

I've tried phoning without success and I have emailed revenue but I'm expecting to be old and grey by the time the come back to me. I'm gone google-eyed at this stage. thanks.
