Executors 'year'

OK, I know that executor has a year to seek grant of probate. Should executor tell beneficiaries that they have been left a bequest? Solicitor will not tell beneficiaries without permission from executor, who is in no hurry to knuckle down to it. One beneficiary would like to know the extent of their share, that they can plan a house extension and knowing the sum of cash involved, would make life easier.

The beneficiaries need to be advised by either executor or solicitor dealing with the grant of probate.
Whoever advises won’t know the final figure until all bills are settled first.
Once settled the beneficiaries have a right too see the final statement.

The executor's solicitor has no obligation and no business interacting with the beneficiaries unless s/he has instructions from the client, the executor.
At some point in the transaction all beneficiaries need too be notified by whoever is dealing with the estate so the estate can be distributed.

knowing the sum of cash involved
They won't know really until property is sold, debts paid, HSE / SW / Revenue cleared etc.

Until then its just guess work & possibly counting chickens before they're hatched.
