Advice needed please. A property has been left to a number of siblings, executor is one of the siblings. Another beneficiary has not made contact with the family for years - executor & this missing beneficiary ended on bad terms. Executor quite happy to leave property for use by other beneficiaries (holiday home) ie. Leave in legal limbo. How long can that go on for? Can property be sold without missing beneficiary? Is executor legally obliged to find missing beneficiary? It is 18months since death and no efforts made.

Not sure about timelines or deadlines but it's is one of the responsibilities of the executor to chase down beneficiaries and ensure that the will is executed as per the instructions of the deceased.
Make sure the entitled beneficiaries or next of kin get what they are entitled to, and that ownership of property is passed on correctly
If they're not doing this then there are means of recourse. For example...

Hi ClubMan, thank you very much. That’s helpful, especially the link on options when executor fails to administer. Ty

+1 ClubMan's observations.

Remember that the executor is supposed to execute the wishes of the testator as set out in the will.
The missing Prodigal will have to be dealt with eventually :)
