Executor Expenses

What is considered as reasonable expenses for an Executer to claim. Can an Executer who lives in the UK claim travel expenses as they have to travel over to Dublin to do work the requires their presences.
Appreciate any answers.

I would think so.

However I would expect that an executor would so arrange matters as to be able to deal with as much as possible in a short time frame; not travelling every month.

Personally, I'd try and save accommodation costs by staying with a relative or friend.

I would not agree, an executor living abroad should appoint an attorney here to extract the grant on their behalf.

But that might cost even more?

In my experience, there was a lot of other work such as dealing with personal papers etc., and I know in my case my relative was relying on me to carry out their wishes.

An 'attorney' is a legal probate term, does not actually have to be a solicitor or lawyer, can be a lay person. Why any lay person would take on the responsibility though is another question!

In any case travel expenses are not generally allowable for an executor.

Surely Legitimate travel costs incurred having to travel from UK is an out of pocket expense.
