I've just completed a postgrad so am no longer a full time student. However, I'm sitting law exams in the autumn and ideally would like to receive jobseekers benefit until then as my workload is just too much to manage with a full time job(or even a part time one).

I understand that the sw won't give me this unless I'm available for full time work, but does it matter that I will only be available for ft work for a short period of time(a couple of months)? Will telling them about the exams i plan to sit affect the outcome?

Would appreciate some practical advice from anyone who may have been in a similar situation. I'm fully aware of the sw rules - yes jobseeker's benefit is only for people who want to work but can't(allegedly!!) - and I don't quite fit into that category as I don't want to work and can't(due to study). I've worked hard and paid my taxes for 9 years and will be working and paying taxes for many many more, surely I'm entitled to a dig out for a couple of months?

Not allegedly - those are actually the rules.

So you don't meet the basic qualification criteria for JB/JA so please don't ask for advice here on how to engage in welfare fraud.

Not via welfare fraud.
