Was toying with the idea of basing it on a minimum estimate to save the palaver of bills etc. e.g. My electricity bill is normally €80 per two months, so an average of €480, so was going to go on the basis of €400 euro - 10% = €40, and then at the marginal rate it is €16 back. I know I am potentially losing out on say and extra 3.20 but I'm too lazy to do the exact calculations!

Yes thanks! At least as that is a set amount it's easy to calculate.
In my calculation above I realised I forgot to just do it for days at work, so should be approx
400*(200/365)*.10*.40=8.76 and not €16 - even better news!!
Broadband is 45 per month so 45*200/365*.3*4= €30 back - combined it will cover 20% of the cost of the office chair I had to buy! Woohoo!
