Watching Eurosong last night, my first thought was - bring back Dustin.
And then the winner, representing Ireland, is about a Russian dog in space.
In the name of all that is Irish, is this the best we can offer?

Or even Bosco, Podge and Rodge or My Lovely Horse

I'm sure I shouldn't mention it but do we not have any Irish singers who can represent us? She set foot in Ireland for the first time over the week-end!

a Russian dog in space

Who they have admitted died from hypothermia a few hours into the flight so not a very nice subject to be singing about. The poor dog was already a stray taken from the streets and then sent off to certain death in space

Its a sad day alright but at the same time I wouldn't want to go back to "All kinds of everything remind me of you"

Just scrap the whole thing as people have been saying for years. Total waste of money.

Yes we have storm damage repairs to pay for; we can't be lashing Apple tax money around on the craic, singin' and dancin'

But is it a song contest anymore ?.
And as far as the four judges.....they , well one of them , the girl from 2 fm was a good judge but the rest omg ...

Song content in Eurosong has nothing to do with anything for at least 20 years.

The voting section of the contest is one of the sporting and betting highlights of the year. I never miss it even though way past my bed time. I always miss the entries, even our own and the Brits'.

Ireland insulted the whole contest with the Dustin thing. I do believe it affectecd the way we were judged in later years. Someone should have been sacked for that. Think it was Ray Darcy pushing it.

Love Dana's song.

It was considered good back in the day, and, of course, won the Eurovision but very dated now. But on the other hand we could probably do with some more normal 'dated' stuff rather than the mad songs that we see from other European countries. The young crowd appear to love it all though.

I thought that the winning song on Friday night was the best of a poor lot ....
I hear Samantha Mumbai complaining about the panel been rude to the contestants but I don't agree , I thought her song was poor even though she was on every program last week promoting it

We've thrown everything at it in recent years: a "non binary" witch, Johnny Rotten ("I am the anti-Christ...") a foul-mouthed Turkey from Sallynoggin - even John Waters had a go with a song of his.

All to no avail.

Perhaps a return to good old-fashioned songwriting values, with a decent singer and a classic pop arrangement - worked before.

I haven't watched it in over 20 years and won't this year. Other than sport I don't watch RTE at all and I never watch the Late Late.
