Any advice on who to go to for car breakdown assistance. It used to be covered on my own policy but not any more. I got quote for 225 from AA but thats high. I wanted over 60 days. Only for France
Have a look at this. This is the German AA and AFAIK their prices (and anecdotally their service) cannot be matched by anyone. The downside is your contract documents will be in German, but all the application / payment stuff up front is in English. The easiest thing might be to ring first and see if the have contract documents in English yet. HTH
I have totally blanked out trying to ring the number on the website. The number given is of a DeutcheBank in Dublin. They have no knowledge of the company. I tried the German code with the Dublin number ??? No luck. Any advice on how to contact.
Thanks

The other option, which might be easier for a first contact, wold be to fill in the forms and email them. Once initial contact is made they are easy to deal with. I've had no contact for a while but they were super=efficient and very price-competitive.
I eventually contacted them via 0049 89 76766632. I got this from their website on a link for camper vans. I spoke to a really friendly operator who took my details and gave me a membership number. She gave me another number to ring to pay as she could not deal with this aspect. When I got through they told me that they do not take payment on line or by Visa over the phone! They will send me the contract and I have to fill in my Visa details there and sign and return to them by post. They do not send out the contract by email either. The cost for membership is €83.50 for the first year and then €79.50 each year thereafter. Great value. Thought I would post this for others.

I am with ADAC and I have my wife as a member to for an extra 20. I'm pretty sure it's on the member not the car so it covers any car either of you are in.
The one drawback is that if you break down you have to ring a German number, so make sure you have enough credit etc etc
If you break down in Ireland they are likely to send out the AA anyway...
