I believe in holding shares directly to avail of the lower charges and the exposure to CGT.
Irish and EU domiciled ETFs should be avoided because of their very unfavourable tax treatment.
US domiciled ETFs are subject to the CGT and Income Tax regime, but seem to have other tax complications which I don't really understand.
