Hi I just wondered if this has happened to anyone else, a number of weeks ago i was to have a viewing on my house when the time came the individual cancelled, my estate agent rang me apologising etc, I understand it's not the EA fault but i think he has a cheek to offer me the persons name and number to call myself and ask why they cancelled, I understand the market is not moving at the moment, I wouldn't be pleased if my number was handed out willy nilly. Is this they way EA are working nowadays (I don't think so)

You need to have a serious chat with this guys boss, this is just not on,you are paying him a serious commission to sell your house, tell him if he wants to continue with this sort of lazy carry on that you will be dealing with another agency.
E/As are for the most part quite useless and given half a chance lazy, they will have you showing potential buyers around if they sense you are a push over,I know from a long number of years of dealing with this breed, who I consider one step above "carny folk"

Is there perhaps a little more to this story perhaps? Would the ea offer you the cancelled viewers number unless you were making a major issue of it?

I had my house on the market for 1 year - I had many, many viewings (perhaps more than 50) - some of which were cancelled at the last minute at great inconvenience to me and still no offers - but I never refused a viewing and eventually I found a purchaser. But with the market the way it is at the present time its no use badgering potential purchasers - this will only p... them off.

So if you want to sell just forget about any individual purchaser and keep your eye on the main object - selling your house. If you don't like or trust your ea - change him.

Hi i agree Knuttell there are alot of lazy EA's out there, I feel the market is not going to change for a very long time.

hi Putsch i didn't make any issue of it i agreed with the EA that it understanable people do cancel, i just feel that offering anyone a personal mobile number to someone it out of line, I would ne be happy with my number being handed out with out my permission, I was just curious if this has happened to anyone else.

Possibly and probably one of the most sensible posts I have seen on AAM. Very valid point - the purpose of the exercise is to sell your property - unless you are fussy who is paying you.

It might be that the OP is selling a property in a rural area and the person that cancelled might just know them.
