Estate Agent Fees

Can anyone tell me what percentage of sale price I should be paying an estate agaent in this current climate to sell my house?
 
Where are you based hotspur? I am currently paying 1% plus vat. In the current market I would not pay anymore.
 
Hi i got a quote of 1.75%,1.5% and 1.3% and im in south dublin.Three well known estate agents.Im still shopping around.
 
based in north dublin- got a quote for 1.4 which i didnt think was bad but wanted to check .
 
That would suggest that in the current climate it's an easy sell, if anything it was in the boom when people should have been negotiating better fees. Ireland is still one of the cheapest countries with regard to EA fees.
 
Paid I% + vat last year. Excellent service. House sale agreed in less than 8 weeks in North County Dublin. A little hint, check Daft or My Home and see who have sold/sale agreed houses in your area in the recent past.
 
LM26 I am looking to sell in clondalkin area can you PM me the name of the agent you used - i am getting quoted 1.5%
 
Novice query, but are these x% + VAT quotes inclusive of outlay (advertising/sign etc.)?
 
try sellityourself.ie, then you got zero ea fees.

not associated in any way to this site, I just think it's an empowering model.
 
Remember that an EA can get you a price for your house, but if you don't accept it he doesn't get paid, so what have you to lose by using one? Ask around about how people have found certain EA's to deal with and the info can be telling especially by those that were buying from the EA. I would concern myself first and foremost with the quality of service and coverage on offer before talking about fees.
