We are going to build a house on my partner's father's land. There are 4 sites available to us but the one we prefer is about a 1/4 mile any from the nearest house and therefore at least that far from the services. We want to get a quote from the ESB for connection to that site before we apply for planning just incase it's too expensive to hook up to the leccy. However, the ESB refuse to have any dealings with you whatsoever unless you've made a planning application! So we are caught. I was emailing a girl in their Networks Callcentre who said to send on a site address and she'd follow up on it with a technician for us. As it is just a field, there is no site address so off we went to the Ordinance Survey to get a map and a grid reference to send to her instead. We had to spend €72 getting this! I sent it off along with our previous emails and a covering letter to the girl I had been dealing with and asked her to acknowledge receipt of the map. Nada. I had also emailed her that day to say the stuff was on the way. I've heard nothing since and cannot contact the girl at all. I think it is understandable that I'm upset by this. The long and the short of it is, has anyone been in a similar situation and how did you settle it? Anyone any advice?
