error on share application

My daughter purchased shares some years ago and when she went to sell them the incorrect d.o.b was on the application the bank would not cash them how can she correct the error

Odd - I don't ever recall giving a date of birth when purchasing shares in the past but maybe I'm wrong. I presume that the bank must have some process whereby incorrect information on file can be corrected? What have they said about rectifying this situation?
