Error - Could not determine default gateway.

Hi all,

I work in a small office and the BB has stopped working with the PC. It is a wireless Eircom router and while the laptop can pick up the wireless BB signal the PC attached to the router cannot.

I get error message - "Could not determine default gateway".

I am by no way an IT techie so can someone please explain what this means and is it easily fixed?

Any help / suggestions greatly welcome as not having the net in work is becoming a pain.

The gateway is your router, default router is the main router you use to connect your networks. Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall perhaps?

Hopefully someone else will be along shortly!
 
Tried to reinstall the router and the eircom installation guide stopped and gave me the gateway error message. Have tried to turn all off and restart but to no avail. Thanks....
 
In your control panel ->network connections->network connection properties->TCP/IP properties ensure that the default gateway field has the ip address of your router (should be in the user manual) or that "obtain an IP automatically" is selected
