Hello,
I recently returned an faulty electric kettle which was under a 2 year guarantee to the shop where I bought it, and the shop agreed to replace it with no quibble. However, the person who gave me the new kettle said that it would only have the remainder of the old guarantee (9 months) and not a new guarantee period. I queried this strongly and when the sales assisstant checked with a supervisor, I was given a new guarantee. I wonder does anyone know the legal position here. An electric kettle is not an expensive item but if it was an item that cost in excess of €1000, for example, it would be important to know.
