Quite a specific query.
I crystallised capital gains in the early part of 2022. As required I paid CGT before the January deadline.
I then crystallised some losses in December which has a different payment date.
I am trying to understand how I should complete form CG1 to claim a refund for the tax paid based on losses in December.
Line 21 covers Jan - November which I can fill out as normal
Line 22 covers December only but only allows you to enter gains, not losses.
If I can’t put the losses into line 22 then the totals between line 21 and 22 won’t equal the total gain in the year in line 16 which is the aggregated view.
Any help much appreciated as revenue are not responding.
