engine management system warning light - cost to get checked?

Hi

Have a 04 Rover 45, 1.4. The engine management system warning light came on this morning & I've booked into a garage on Saturday morning to get something run on it to see what the problem is. Anyone have any idea how much it will cost for this, just to find out what the problem is? I'd asked the mechanic on the phone he was very vague about the cost, I'm just worried that they'll charge me what they feel like as I'm sure they know by the phone call that I hadn't a clue! Is there a set price or a rough guideline?

Depends on the the garage,whether its a main dealer or independant.
Independant garage would be around 50-70 euro.
Main dealer would be 80 euro upwards plus the vodka.

Normaly this would include a half an hour of checks etc.
Anymore and labour will be extra on top of that.
