Engine cuts out while stationary

The engine has cut out while stationary on my fiat punto about 5 times in the last month, usually I can start the engine straight away but last night it took me about 10 minutes to start it again. I have noticed that the car lacks power when I first start the car when the engine is cold

Anyone any idea what the problem could be? Fuel filter maybe?

Could be a lot of things - but faulty idle control valve comes to mind.

Thanks, I'm taking it to the garage for a diagnosis just don't want to be ripped off
