We are currently replacing gas meters with more advanced models. The meter replacement programme will help ensure that we continue to provide customers with an excellent service and maintain a modern network using the next generation of gas meters.
Maybe they are smart capable but, unlike electricity generation, maybe gas supply/capacity and prices don't dynamically fluctuate throughout the day so smart gas tariffs aren't a thing (yet)? I suspect that wholesale gas prices are set on a longer term basis - e.g. months ahead - and retail prices are determined by that for a similar period of time?
