Looking to buy some bedroom paint and find my nearest supplier is charging €29.95 for 2.50 litres can- various colours .

Of course 2.5 lts Magnolia can be bought for €22.95

Does anyone know the cheapest place for paint here in the South East ........Woodies ?... B & Q ? ...Homebase ?...Arro ? ....etc

I got 10L tubs of Berger and Crown superflat emulsion for 25e each in woodies in a sale. Dunno if you have woodies down there. I've "almost" completed the entire house inside and the only bit of advice i'd give you is DO NOT buy the cheap stuff. I did that for the first couple of rooms and ended up having to do 4-5-6 coats instead of just 2-3 with the real stuff.

buy a decent quality paint but try some of the local small independent hardward/paint shops, they might be prepared to do you a deal. failing that keep an eye out on the bigger stores for discounts, eg 10% off on everything for the day

I used Woodie's own brand and found it great. Can't remember the cost but it was cheaper than brand name paint. I've done a fair bit of painting in my time and found it covered well and gave a very good finish. Some very cheap paints don't give a great finish and you may end up using more of it than you would of more expensive paint. Good point about smaller paint shops, Mpsox.

B&Q were having a sale a couple of weeks ago, 15% off everything so you should check if thats still on.

Woodies have an online site which might be worth a look to see if they have prices up.

Homebase recently had 10 litres of soft sheen and matt magnolia (dulux) cheaper than they were selling 5 litres tubs. Think I paid around 40 euros.

Woodies had 20% off the paint at the weekend. It could still be on. If you PM briancbyrne he will email you a voucher for 20% off Woodies and Atlantic. He posted this on AAM a few days ago.

I would also recommend Woodie's own brand, at least in white. It was actually recommended to me by a plasterer, and the coverage was excellent. (Thinking all white paints were pretty much the same I then got a tub of B&Q's own brand white, and it was terrible by comparison, took many more coats than the Woodie's. I ended up getting rid of a nearly full B&Q tub and going the extra few miles back to Woodies).

B&Q's own brand white

Thats the stuff i was referring to earlier - didnt like to name them as such! But you're dead right - i just returned them and got some proper paint. They're good with returns.
