Hi,

Hope you'll be able to advice. My husband was on JObseeker benefit and as he couldn't find employment he decided to run his business and switch to enterprise allowance. It was going to cease in February 2013. Just two weeks before he got a job offer which he accepted. But having mortgage to pay and crèche fees it's more than one income: he's on 19k I am on 23k. This give us apprpx 1400 from his salary and 1500 from mine a month. Crèche + mortgage is 1800/month. If we add bills and his travels (€250-300 with parking) than actually nothing left. We are considering him to quit a job and focus on his business as is getting better with every month (but still it's no more than €200mnth after costs). As he is employed and paying his contributions and also self employed with low (or no) income will be entitled to job seeker ( he is looking for job for the last 3 months), job allowance or is there any option?

We already asked for appointment with financial advisor with EBS, we are tracking our spendings are keeping stickt I our budget. He accepted the job as we thought it would be easier but it's even worse.

We are also goin to see other topics here so maybe we will be able to get some "ideas" from you.

All advice is more than welcome.

Forgot to mention that he was on short term Enterprise allowance only for 3 weeks - this is according to papers he got from SW. it was quite weird as he applied to change job seeker to short term enterprise allowance in March 2012 and was told by the officer to do his part with the business and wait for papers. He got papers... in January 2013 (!) (only because he was keep ringing officer, and every time was told it "was sent") but it wasn't back dated. So according to SW he was on that STEA only for 3 weeks (as far I remember). we are wondering if he can come back to Short term Enterprise Allowance?
Thanks
