I don't think its easy to find statistically reliable information about which brands are the best (or last the longest on average).
Often you get what you pay for, often the higher the cost, the higher the quality.
I usually go for the brand with the longest warranty, it takes the risk out of the purchase. 7 years ago, I bought a few Whirlpool appliances with an 8 year parts warranty, nothing went wrong with any of them.
I'm sure if I had bought other brands, nothing would have gone wrong either, but a good warranty is key.
It also helps look at the quality of an item before buying it, open the door, see the quality of the handles and buttons, quality speaks for itself.
