Re: electrical eng grad where to get work

The work experience will certainly stand to him. The course shows he has the technical ability, the experience will show he also has the time management/soft skills/motivation/team building etc etc skills which are just as important.

Not sure on specific recruitment agencies for Engineering but CPL (www.cpl.ie) did manage to find an excellent job for a Telecoms Eng that I know. [I have no connection to and have never dealt with CPL personally]
From feedback of friends who have used a few recruitment agencies seems it can often come down to the individual person dealing with you as much as the recruitment agency itself.

There are a huge number of resources for finding jobs in this area. He could try searching through the IEI or the IEE. Its worth also using the many college recruitment pages to see what companies are currently searching for recruits. The CIT careers service should help as he is a former student, but he shouldn't limit it to just that institution.

As always, e-mailing directly can have great rewards, but does take a little time gearing the CVs and Cover Letters for the job in question. Its time well spent if he gets the sort of position he's looking for.
