hi

we have just moved into a new house. we have a triton electric shower. on using this the water is just about lukewarm/cold even though the temperature is turned up to the max. the water pressure is fine, it is just the heat that is the problem. there is never any other water being used in the house when this is on either so not sure re this

any suggestions re what the problem could be?

It could be the wrong type of shower for the available pressure. If it is a new build see your builder...

Does the temp change when you adjust the power setting from low to med, to high? If not, then one of the heating elements may be gone.

hi guys

temp does change from high to medium to low

basically goes from slightly warm to lukewarm to cold!

How could this be a pressure problem if the water pressure coming out is ok - is it maybe just a fault with the shower

To be honest I am not sure, its just we had exactly the same problem as you had returned the shower for one that suits a low pressure.

Even though we did have adaquate pressurue in the taps ....

My shower is the opposite. When its switched on to the high pressure option its roasting. Will not cool even at 0.

Is the shower tank fed or mains fed?
If it is mains fed then your water pressure could be too high for the shower.
Check the shower manual - should be available on the web and get your builder to ensure the water pressure is not too high

Basically what the temperature regulator on an electric shower does is control the speed of the water pump - the hotter the setting the slower the pump runs thereby allowing the medium (water) to pick up greater heat transfer from the heating coil.
If the water pressure is too high though, this will obviously not work.
What can often happen is that the water will be scalding no matter what the setting and then after a few minutes the water goes cold.
This is caused by a faulty pump, not pumping the water quickly enough and thereby giving very hot water - Then the heating element cuts out as a safety measure and you have cold water.
