Have just bought a (very dark) new apartment and am planning to do fairly major work on it. Would like to find an "expert" who might advise how best to light it. Should I just go along to a lighting shop or are there specialist lighting advisors around who might give me advice, presumably for a fee?
I had a look in a lighting shop in Enniskillen, called Scaffog, they had lovely lights which were mad expensive. They have a lighting specialist there who does out a lighting plan for people based on their house plans. Costs about 300 pounds which is returned if you buy a large proportion of your lights from them. Presumably, prices would be cheaper for an appartment.
You could download this lighting design software off the net. It has loads of different catalogues and light fittings to chose from. Probably a bit over the top but it is free!
there's an article in 'House' spring issue on lighting your home. Good article which provides the following websites for ideas; www.johncullenlighting.co.uk, www.lightingdesigninternational.com. Also advertises two books on lighting both by Sally Storey;'Lighting: Recipes and ideas, and 'Lighting by design'.
