Electric Ireland: Low usage levy

How can I be wrong in stating that the standing charge at 1.03 per day is increasing my bill by the same amount as the usage charge; in effect doubling it.
Thats a meaningless statement without the usage information

Why not show the numbers / a bill? Some real context over repeating the same point over and over would really help.

Without that, it's a circular argument, and one you dont appear willing to address/prevent

This is my electricity standing charge from my supplier Bord Gais from my August invoice

And? What's your point? That your standing charge for your 24 hour meter is less than the c. €1 per day for a day/night meter (we think) in the original query? This is an irrelevant comparison.

Help what?
Help clarify your original query/complaint. Three pages in and we still don't have all relevant info.
How does one "prevent" standing charges?
It's obvious that they meant prevent the circular argument not prevent standing charges. You can't avoid standing charges.

This thread is a bit pointless at this stage so I think I'll check out now.

in general:

For above average users aim for a high standing charge, low unit rate.

For below average users aim for a low standing charge, high unit rate.

Not sure where the breakeven point is. Make sure to use your actual consumption when getting quotes from comparison tools. Usage varies a lot from household to household.

As a low user in my own home (1200kw), the best value deal is one offer cash back offer/sign up bonus. Even if the rate is high, €100 free credit will buy a lot of electricity. For the very high users, the lowest rate is best, even if there is a cssh back offer.
