eircom shares

I know this has probably been adressed a hundred times before, but I have just been passed on shares from my fathers estate, he died in 2002. The shares are gone into my name. I have no idea how much etc until I get the written confirmation from the sol, he just said over the phone that he had invested 1000 ir pounds when they first came about. Anyone any idea what they are worth now if anything?
