Eircom handset not ringing long enough

I have an 2 x Eircom cordless handsets which I bought a number of years ago (they are the previous handset to the Eircom 7000 series (link below))

Anyway what I need to know is if there is a way whereby I can increase the number of rings before the phone goes to the answering machine. I only get about 4 rings before this happens so obviously it is becoming increasingly frustrating at this stage. I have trawled the phone menu but can't find anything.

I think it is one of Newton's basic laws of physics which states that the chances of answering a ringing phone decrease exponentially with every child in the house!

PS - Eircom won't speak to me about it because I have changed to Vodafone and they don't have a clue about an Eircom phone.

As far as I know it’s your answering machine settings you should be adjusting for the number of rings before it picks up the call.

The answering machine is built into the handset but I'll have a look tonight
