Eir broadband and line rental for existing customers

Coming to end of contract €49.99 a month.
Best eir offer for 24 months is €53.99 for 12 months and €57.99 for following 12 months. With eir over 30 years.

Am I way overpaying for a 24 month deal ?

I want no hassle changing over but will entertain suggestions for seamless change of provider.

More than likely.

The likes of bonkers will show you what alternatives are available. Type in your eircode and you'll see what are on offer. Chances are the best prices - like most utilities - are for those who switch annually.

Switching should be relatively painless if you're staying with the same infrastructure (i.e., open eir, Siro or VM). Systems are in place to make it relatively painless. Though issues can arise when jumping platforms.

Alternatively find the best offer and use it to negotiate with your current provider. Though there is no guarantee this will work.

If it's 30 years with eir you're likely open eir. You may or may not have fibre to the home (ftth) or the older legacy options (fibre to the cabinet) but ultimately changing provider shouldn't impact the speed you can get.

I just changed to 3 network. 24 months contract. For 12 months broadband €19.99pm, then €29.99pm, also with bill pay phone €15.99pm with more data, calls, text than I could possibly use.

There is a 3% annual increase every April.

I signed up online and it was a nightmare.

It took 8 days to get connections sorted. I eventually went in-store and the sales agent, in fairness, admitted the online agents are regularly making mistakes. The mistakes were, only one SIM was issued instead of two required, for router and phone. The SIM was not activated and despite hours of online chat, I was assured that the SIM in the router was being 'refreshed'. If, at any point they had asked me if there was a SIM in the router we could have got to the root of the problem.

I went in-store . Friendly, courteous and problem solved.

But excellent offer in my opinion, now that its working.
 
If you have mobiles make sure you've bundled them in, and make sure you're on a sim only plan for them too. Think Sara was on mobile broadband, I suspect you have fiber to the home? I wouldn't get rid of ftth to switch to mobile broadband with 3
 
I am going to be coming to the end of my €49.99 (+€6 increase in April) contract in July so I can imagine my offer will be something similar. If that is the case, there are plenty of other providers out there with better deals.
 
I have been trying to cancel with Eir and it is a nightmare. Number 31 in the queue on Friday afternoon - I gave up. I did make a formal complaint. Any of these utilities that you can sign up to online should also allow you to exit in the same way. I don’t need the hard sell!
 
Was onto eir on Friday following recent email re €6 price increase and can confirm they do call back if you take that option.

Paying 49.99 a month for broadband and phone as I signed up for their Price for Life option back in 2019. Was guaranteed no increases ever, by email and chat transcript. Have copies of an article by Bonkers at the time and social media posts by eir themselves all stating the same, no increases ever.

I spoke with them on Friday and they quoted some reg. eighty something that allows the increase but it sounded questionable. A manager is supposed to be coming back to me this week to discuss. My question is, if they promised a price for life, confirmed it a year later when they tried and failed to auto increase it, left it alone for the next 4 yrs, how can they claim now it's not really a price for life.

Should add, the speed we were guaranteed is never really achieved but that's a whole other discussion. What is achieved meets the needs for now. Feels like they are trying to get me to willingly either cancel or change contract to a temporarily lower price and give up the current contract.

Ask for advice from ComReg the Regulator about your rights and they should be able to confirm.

Was this 100mb over the copper landline? This service is being switched off as fibre broadband becomes available in local areas. Are they offering you fibre instead? If so, you should have a choice of providers - with better deals than your current one.

This is fibre to local cabinet and copper from there to the home. A lot of houses still dont even have this. Will be a long time until fibre to home is available to everyone.

Same as here broadband for life in 2019 my other half rang and asked how they could break the contract and asked to speak to a supervisor as we do not accept this increase. It was a fixed price for life for the first I think it was 10000 to sign up.

This is crazy and obviously they are trying to get people off these contracts.
