Visited my local ebs office this morning making enquiries about the fixed saving rate. I was informed that there is a new rate from today of 3.5 for seven months. I was going to put the money in anglo for 1yr fixed at the same rate but I am a little nervous about them. I would appreciate feed back from you all on both ebs and anglo.

They are both owned by the state.

thanks towger. So really my question should have been is it safe to put money in any of the state banks. What are the chances of us going broke

Thanks for letting us know about the new rate, it is not on the EBS website. I have just contacted EBS and they have confirmed the new rate to me. I will update the best buys.
