EBS Protected Consensus Bond

Hi
I have a query on the EBS protective concensus bond option.

Am I right in thinking that once you invest the principle for a term of 6 years, the whole value of the sum can fluctuate completely i.e. you are not receiving back your principle and interest on top? In other words it's like stocks and shares?

Re: EBS Protective Consensus Bond

The EBS 1 month -5 year "bonds" (Term Deposits) are both capital and interest protected.

I am unaware of their 6 year bond. Can you post a link?

[broken link removed]

When you say Capital protected are you saying there is no chance of you losing what you banked initially? i.e. if you intend putting away 10k for the duration it can never fall below 10k?

Re: EBS Protective Consensus Bond

It would seem like only the investment/capital is protected.

Best to call them to confirm.

Re: EBS Protective Consensus Bond

I got my replies from EBS for those interested. It was referred to Irish life:

I have referred your query to Irish Life to reply to as the Protected
Consensus Fund is one of their products.

If you parents have invested in a Protected Consensus Bond their
original investment is guaranteed after a period of 6 years.

The value during these 6 years may go up or down but at the guarantee
date they will get back there original investment, even if the value is
down at that time.
