EBS Mortgage approval process

Hi, our mortgage application form is with the EBS headquarters awaiting approval hopefully, is this the norm in the process of a mortgage application? I know applications have to go to the underwriters but to headquarters too?
I'm afraid our mortgage approval is going to be refused now ...

I've found EBS to be dreadfully slow, at all stages of the mortgage process, particularly drawdown though. They are by far the slowest and most frustrating bank I've dealt with for mortgages.

i agree 100% with Coldwarrior, i am still waiting on my mortgage with them. They are the 3rd in line after PTSB and BOI who were both good and fast enough. Nothing has changed in our circumstances etc but EBS are looking for everything asking silly questions about stupid stuff. Anyway hopefully it wont be long and when it is through and i get the 2% cash back i will be away to KBC for their €3000.

Thanks everyone, we already have a 10 year mortgage with the ebs & we're looking for another mortgage so we can upgrade from our apartment to a house. If/when we get mortgage approval with EBS we're gonna go to a broker aswell & see what they can do for us. Maybe a better deal? 2% cash back!!!! I never thought of that, how good would that be.
